The Future’s Green
There has been an increasing need for alternative, noncarbon, sources of energy. This has been further propelled by the setting of the UK and European emission reduction targets and the increasing public awareness of the economic and environmental pressures involved in energy supplies.
In January 2010 City Satellite began a research project into the feasibility for setting up a new trading division that would concentrate on the installation of renewable technologies. By the end of the year City Solar was established, initially set up for the purpose of installing Solar Photovoltaic Electricity Systems that qualified for the higher rate of the Government backed clean energy cashback scheme (officially known as the Feed-In-Tariff).

Our initial installation was a small scale commercial system located on City Satellite’s own premises – this served the dual purpose of being a suitable site for our certification inspection as well as giving us an ideal up-and-running system to show prospective customers from panel to inverter to meter.
City Solar was assessed by Elecsa for qualification into the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, the assessment was passed for certification with the inspector commenting that it is ‘a well organised company with a very tidy system’.
